Frequently Asked Questions:
If we are unable to meet with clients, are we able to transact electronically?
Yes, CARW members have access to zipFormsPlus and electronic document signing. HERE
I'm looking to have a legal or contract question answered, do you have a recommendation?
Most members work with one of our many fantastic real estate attorneys in Milwaukee. You also have a FREE Member resource in the Legal Hotline that will answer questions within hours HERE
I'm looking to access a NAR or WRA resource but need my login and password, can you help me?
YES - email [email protected]
Will I be able to pull a permit and perform an inspection?
We have links to various municipalities' community development pages. Most are asking that the requests are done electronically or by being dropped off. Every municipality is different and will need to be communicated with directly (see links below)
Where can people go to get tested? We want contractors with a cough to be tested before they enter a jobsite:
Unfortunately, testing capacity is currently lagging behind the need, so I can be difficult to get tested at this time, unless someone is in a high-risk category or showing severe symptoms. Large hospital systems (like Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee) will likely have some tests available, but may limit those tests to certain specific patients. We hope and expect that testing will be come more widely available in the coming weeks.
Can a person take EPSLA to help someone else, and then also take EPSLA if they become ill too because of assisting someone else?
Likely yes. Although we are waiting for the Department of Labor to issue its regulations, we anticipate that an employee will be allowed to use the EPSLA leave for herself and to care for others, although she would not be able to exceed a total of 21 weeks of leave.
How would you rank real estate as an essential business?
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has published a helpful guide on which industries constitute part of the country’s “Critical Infrastructure.” It can be found here: https://www.cisa.gov/identifying-critical-infrastructure-during-covid-19
Whether real estate will be deemed “essential” will depend on the specific order issued in each jurisdiction. In New York, real estate was deemed “non-essential,” and was required to close as a result of Governor Cuomo’s shelter-in-place order
At present time, construction is exempt from the 10-person mass gathering ban: HERE
