On August 8th, CARW members had the opportunity to hear from Alison Prange, COO for the Republican National Convention Host Committee. She discussed the various ways that businesses and individuals could engage in the RNC in 2024 – a convention that will draw attention from all over the world. The Host Committee is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that is tasked with ‘running the show’ for the RNC. They work with the Party but are not political. Alison emphasized that there are many opportunities to assist, from providing space for various events and entities, to construction and set-up. To find out about opportunities, Alison suggested members visit the Host Committee portal to sign up to receive information: www.mke2024host.org. The convention is July 15-18, 2024 and is expected to bring 50,000 visitors to the Milwaukee area. The anticipated economic impact is $200M. Alison also emphasized the great need for volunteers before, during and after the event – volunteers may register at the Host Committee site. She wanted everyone to take away from her presentation, the great opportunity we have as a State to put on a great show for the many visitors. And to think about how that sets up our State for additional conventions that will lead to greater economic impact. The most memorable part of a convention is meeting the local people – and Wisconsin residents are some of the most friendly in the Country. She is hopeful that we will all be a part of making it a great show!
Alison added that the spotlight will be on Milwaukee starting August 23, the night of the first, RNC debate which will be held at the Fiserv Forum. It will be a year of developing coverage that we will all be a part of.
