Crump was appointed by Mayor Barrett late May and received unanimous approval from Milwaukee aldermen Tuesday to replace Rocky Marcoux as the city’s development commissioner. Marcoux is retiring after 16 years of serving as DCD. Crump is an attorney with extensive experience in promoting minority and small business participation in public and private construction projects. Prior to his appointment, many of CARW’s members worked with Mr. Crump on large-scale projects including The Deer District, and the Milwaukee Street Car. He most recently served as deputy chief of staff and chief diversity, vendor, and engagement officer for the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee of the Democratic National Convention.
Crump will lead the Department of City Development and Milwaukee Redevelopment Authority where he will oversee efforts to attract companies and jobs, rezoning and redevelopment decisions and long-range urban planning.
CARW Members met with Lafayette several times prior to his appointment to learn of his background and vision for the City. “We look forward to working with Commissioner Crump on building an even better Milwaukee.”
