The 1031 Like-Kind Exchange is a valuable tool for commercial real estate practitioners as well as land owners and farmers across the country and in Wisconsin. 1031 is and has been in jeopardy of being eliminated or changed as part of the Biden administration’s plan to generate additional revenue to pay for federal programs. On August 3, a group of congressional leaders sent President Biden a letter urging him to preserve the like-kind exchange. Several Wisconsin Congressional leaders signed on including Congressman Glenn Grothman, Congressman Tom Tiffany and Congressman Bryan Bryan Steil.
