Updates and Opportunities
The Wisconsin Commercial REALTORS Education and Research Fund (CARW Foundation) is a 501(c)3 organization that began in 2018. It was announced at the CARW 25th Anniversary Celebration by Chairman, Steve Pape. The effort was formalized in 2020 by a group of commercial real estate professionals dedicated to enhancing the careers of commercial real estate professionals and the communities in which we live.
The purpose of the CARW Foundation is to provide grants and scholarships for commercial real estate professionals and students and to support research that benefits the Wisconsin commercial real estate community.
Putting the Dollars to Work through Scholarship:
At the 2020 & 2021 CARW Golf golf outings, you helped to raise almost $15,000 for the Foundation and in 2021, the CARW Foundation awarded five continuing education grants and two $5,000 scholarships.
At the 2021 Deal of the Year & Hall of Fame event, the CARW Foundation honored two Milwaukee Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame inductees. The inductees; Deborah Sobczak & Thomas Bernacchi were honored at the event and had the opportunity to direct scholarships to a university of their choosing. Ms. Sobczak’s scholarship will be awarded to a student at UW Milwaukee and Mr. Bernacchi’s to a student at UW Madison. Both recipients and their families graciously matched the scholarships allowing additional students to benefit from these gifts.
How you can Engage:
CARW will continue to raise dollars on behalf of the CARW Foundation through annual dues billing. To date, members have contributed an additional $2,500 which will be used for 2022 scholarships.
