Technology and the internet have been impacting retailers for years, but the trend accelerated rapidly during the pandemic, as even reluctant retailers were forced to change the way they do business in order to survive. Commercial properties have also had to adapt to consumer preferences for shopping; a changing mix of retail, dining and entertainment offerings; and new approaches to parking lots, including the addition of curbside pickup and multiple drive-through lanes.
