Commercial real estate group names new charity to receive three-year gift
(Milwaukee, WI) – The Real Estate Alliance for Charity (REACH) has named Playworks Wisconsin the 2016 Charitable Giving recipient. Playworks Wisconsin will receive $37,500, or $12,500 each year for three years. Playworks was selected from 38 applicants who each demonstrated financial need and specific programming requests that benefit children in need.
“We were impressed with Playworks’ mission and their focus on how they will leverage the REACH gift,” said Laurie Vega, REACH President. “Playworks leadership has demonstrated that they can do a lot with very little,” she added. “Playworks will deliver results to local children that will impact them both in and out of the schools, which was key in our decision.”
“This gift allows Playworks Wisconsin to bring our programming to two additional schools that are part of our TeamUp model,” said Deborah Lukovich, Playworks Wisconsin Executive Director. This year, Playworks Wisconsin serves over 9,000 students in 20 low-income schools.
The mission of Playworks is to improve the health and well-being of children by increasing opportunities for safe, meaningful play. These positive experiences on the playground follow children back into the classroom, their homes and community. The program results in decreased disciplinary issues and increased student engagement and academic performance.
