6 Questions with Vanessa
Q: Which projects are you most excited about?
A: Having my eyes focused primarily outside of Milwaukee, due to the nature of my role at Physicians Realty Trust, it’s hard for me to say. One of my goals for being a part of NextGen and CARW is to be more aware of the activity in the CRE market in Milwaukee. It’s so fun to see what is happening and the revitalization that is taking place right before our eyes.
Q: What is your favorite restaurant?
A: How does anyone answer this question? I have so many. I am a huge foodie. Right now, my three favorites (yes three) are Snack Boys (really fun to go to with friends for a fun atmosphere and killer snacks), Stella Van Buren (a sound pick for a business meeting that isn’t super pricey) and Fresh Fin Poke (a perfect and healthy lunch option with tons of flavor).
Q: What made you choose Commercial Real Estate?
A: I didn’t intentionally choose CRE, it was a VERY happy accident. I was told about this awesome new company from the Controller who had had previously met my supervisor at my internship at KOSS while in college. I started at DOC in the accounting department and about a year and a half later I moved into the leasing department. Over the first year in leasing I slowly started doing my own deals and have moved recently into a regional role. I handle all the renewals in the Northeast market and manage our third-party brokers and leasing strategy in those markets. Taking the job with DOC was the best career moves I’ve made!
Q: What is one word that comes to mind when you think of CARW?
A: Networking.
Q: What is your biggest takeaway from our NextGen meetings?
A: Besides the networking, I love hearing about the surge of business that is going on in Milwaukee. Out of 50 buildings in my portfolio, only 7 are in WI and only 3 of them are in the Milwaukee area, so I am outside of the CRE loop when it comes to local news. I hope to help grow our WI portfolio as time goes on as well.
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be?
A: Anthony Bourdain. He was one of my favorite people of all time. I loved all of his TV shows and his book, just the sound of his voice was something indescribable. I think he’d be great to talk and share a meal with, especially in a country like Vietnam or Thailand.
