John started his career as a field engineer and worked his way up to Project Manager with Altius Building Company, leading and managing projects from kick-off to completion. For each project, he creates contracts, work orders, and purchase orders while controlling scheduling, and vetting subcontractors. In addition to these tasks, he also works with superintendents to deliver project milestones by the schedule and the owner’s goals. John ensures that materials arrive on-site promptly and obtains all permits.
Q) What is the best piece of advice you have received?
A) Every person you meet is a potential door to a new opportunity. Build good bridges/relationships, you never know how someone will weave into the bigger picture of your life.

Q) Where did you grow up?
A) I grew up in Green Lake, Wisconsin.
Q) If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be?
A) If I could have lunch with anyone I would have to say Mike Rowe.
Q) What made you choose Commercial Real Estate?
A) Each project presents new goals, new locations, and new clients – you never will become bored and are always seeking to achieve and exceed client goals in different environments. A main motivator for me is helping communities grow and changing the landscape for the better.
Q) What do you hope to get out of your NextGen Experience?
A) I am hoping that through NextGen I can continue to grow and learn as a project manager not just about monthly topics but also gaining valuable knowledge to the different aspects of the industry – understanding what truly goes into development and what it takes to get a project from concept to completion.
