Irgens
From Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Went to UW-Madison for undergrad under the Chancellor’s Scholarship Program, and graduated with a double major in Real Estate & Economics. During my time there, I was involved in the Wisconsin Real Estate Club, Wisconsin Club Basketball, and the Wisconsin Association of Black Men. I interned with Irgens in the summer of 2019 to which I returned on a full-time basis following graduation in December 2019. Outside of real estate, activities I enjoy are traveling, playing basketball, and binge-watching tv shows.
Q) What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A) I enjoy the multi-dimensionality that commercial real estate offers. Every aspect of the industry is interconnected, but it is easy for one to find their niche in one of the many facets. The continuous learning and exposure that you realize while working on each deal are very unique. Community impact/investment is something that I am very passionate about, and commercial real estate allows you to have a direct influence.
Q) What is the best piece of advice you have received?
A) My parents would emphasize this as I started to grow up, but they would remind me to always learn from the past, prepare for the future, and never be too caught up with both to live in the present.
Q) What is your favorite quote?
A) “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”
Q) What was cool when you were growing up but isn’t cool now?
A) Definitely AIM (instant messaging). Brought that up to the 7th-grade team that I was coaching for basketball, and they looked at me like I was speaking in a different language. They proceeded to call me lame after explaining what AIM was and how popular it was among kids their age.
Q) If you could have lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be?
A) Giannis Antetokounmpo
Q) What do you hope to get out of your NextGen Experience?
A) I’m excited to be a part of a cohort of bright young professionals across all facets of the commercial real estate industry in the Milwaukee area. The networking opportunities, which is essential in CRE, that the program presents is unmatched. Looking forward to fostering my professional growth and enhancing my conceptual knowledge about commercial real estate through the rotational panels. Networking is essential.
