I’m Benj Van Handel, and I work as a Brokerage Associate at Luther Group LLC. I graduated from Marquette University in Spring 2023. When I’m not at work, you can find me playing rugby, experimenting in the kitchen, or going for a run. I love spending time with my family as well.
Q) What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A) I enjoy real estate for its tangible aspects and the emphasis on relationship-focused success. The many avenues for building a career in commercial real estate excite me for what’s to come.
Q) Where did you grow up?
A) I grew up in Green Bay, WI and attended High School at Notre Dame de la Baie Academy. I moved to Milwaukee when I began school at Marquette University.
Q) What’s your favorite place to travel to?
A) I love traveling to Sanibel Island, FL. Since I was very young, I’ve spent many trips there at my grandparents’ place. It is such an incredibly relaxing and beautiful island.
Q) Which projects are you involved in/most excited about?
A) I am involved in a project to grow the Luther Group portfolio to the Fox Valley. It is certainly a project that takes lots of patience, but it is exciting to be involved in a project that is near my hometown.
Q) What made you choose Commercial Real Estate?
A) The biggest contribution to my decision to pursue commercial real estate was a conversation with Andy Hunt, the Director for the Vieth Institute for Real Estate Leadership at Marquette University. Andy spoke with so much excitement and about the numerous opportunities within this career path. That was all I needed to become interested in and choose commercial real estate.
Q) What do you hope to get out of your NextGen Experience?
A) I hope to achieve a boost in my network of individuals across many different careers to coincide with the numerous individuals that I have connected with through Luther Group. I hope to grow professionally with this program and my peers who have joined NextGen with the same aspirations that I have for myself.
