My name is Grace Gallagher and I am an Architectural Project Assistant at Eppstein Uhen Architects with a primary focus in the Multi-Family development market. Originally from Orlando, Florida, I graduated from the University of Florida with my Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture in 2022, and shortly there after graduated from the University of Michigan with my Master’s of Architecture in 2024. I have worked on a variety of projects at EUA across many of our markets, but my interests lie primarily in test fits, planning, and exterior design. I grew a strong interest in commercial real estate and development in graduate school and hope to keep it at the forefront of my career in architecture. Growing up I played tennis, softball, and was on the bowling team— although tennis was always my favorite. In my free time nowadays I enjoy running, spending time outdoors, traveling, and trying new restaurants throughout the city.
Q) What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A) My favorite part about commercial real estate is that you get to see firsthand with the fabric of our cities are made up of and how people interact with them everyday. You are aware of every building type and function a city has to offer, as well as what is missing that could make it that much more desirable. While I primarily work on the creative side, I find the business and strategic elements of commercial real estate just as exciting.
Q) Where did you grow up?
A) I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida alongside my two siblings. We grew up in a town that was best known for its chain of lakes, so our childhood’s were spent outdoors on any body of water we could find. When it was time for college, I moved to Gainesville, Florida where I spent four years living and studying (Go Gators!) and there after moved to Ann Arbor for two years while pursuing my masters degree (Go Blue!) Growing up in Florida we didn’t experience seasons, so that is one of my favorite parts about living in the Midwest now.
Q) What’s your favorite place to travel to?
A) My favorite place I’ve traveled to would have to be Mexico City. In graduate school myself and handful of other students spent two weeks here on a research grant trip and it was a city unlike anything I’ve seen before. The architecture was beautiful, the food and music were amazing, and the people were so nice. Not to mention it is one of the largest cities in the world and it truly felt that way you were flying overhead. Everything about Mexico City was unique and I would absolutely love to go back someday.
Q) What made you choose Commercial Real Estate?
A) Throughout my education, I found a strong interest in commercial real estate as I wanted to understand what the fabric of our cities are made up of and what drives local economies. I think this is an important aspect of being a strong architect as well as designing for future generations to come.
Q) What do you hope to get out of your NextGen Experience?
A) Through my NextGen experience, I hope to expand my network of colleges and leaders in the industry throughout the city and beyond, as well as learn more about Commercial Real Estate in Milwaukee and its adjacent industries. I am confident this experience will have a lasting impact on my career and I am looking forward to seeing the opportunities that lie ahead.
