Q) What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A) Since I work for a construction management firm, I spend most of my time on the actual construction side of a project and not as much on the real estate side. However, the thing I love most about commercial real estate and especially construction is that every day of your career is different. Yes, there are many tasks that you do that are a bit monotonous, but every project and every deal is different. Every building is different, every location is different and the people you deal with every day can be different. The day-to-day variety of people and buildings makes every day exciting.
Q) What is your favorite quote?
A) “85% of what you worry about never happens.” Working in construction, we deal with a lot of issues every day and many seem like emergencies. However, like the quote says, 85% of them are not emergencies at all. Once you realize this, it can really help lower the day-to-day stress.
Q) Where did you grow up?
A) I grew up in Appleton, WI. It is a great place to live in the Fox Cities and I love going back to see family and friends.
Q) Where is your favorite place to travel?
A) Favorite place to travel is difficult as our family loves to travel. However, my favorite recent trip was to Costa Rica. We were there over Thanksgiving last year. The country and the weather were perfect. Our kids really enjoyed swimming in the hot spring river, however, the highlight was zip-lining high about the tree tops in Monteverde.
Q) What projects are you involved in/most excited about?
A) I honestly don’t think there is a project that I would not be excited about. Of course, everyone loves to be a part of the biggest and most recognized construction projects around, but it is also extremely fulfilling to help a client with even the smallest projects. For that client, what we may see as a small project, just might be the biggest and most exciting project they ever build and it is exciting to help build part of their dreams.
Q) What do you hope to get out of your membership with CARW?
A) There are many things that I would like to get out of being a member of CARW, but the most important to me is all the great connections that can be made. We all need help from others in our careers and the bigger a network of friends you can build in the industry will only help you go further.
