Q: What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A: I love that this industry is always changing, evolving and dynamic. Over the years, I have seen the ebb and flow of the economy and the commercial real estate market. I’ve learned that when there is a downturn, there is always opportunity. Conversely, when the economy is strong and the market is hot, one must always keep in mind that hard work and perseverance must not be forgotten and to plan for the eventual turn of events. I truly enjoy working with businesses to help them to achieve their goals. I also appreciate the fellowship of the brokers in this community.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you have received?
When a deal goes south and dies, even if its one that you have been working on for a long time, do not become discouraged and slow down. Let this roll off your back and keep moving – like a shark in water. There are more opportunities to be realized. I got this advice when I first started out as an industrial broker at NAI MLG Commercial from a veteran and senior broker. I will never forget this.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: Never let a good crisis go to waste – Winston Churchill
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I grew up in Wisconsin. However, I was born in Quebec, Canada, and moved to the suburb of Greendale with my family when I was seven. I spoke only French and during my first year in a public school, I had to navigate through a sea of English speaking classmates while my parents continued to speak French at home – it took me awhile to ramp up! I visit Montreal often and have friends there through the Montreal Chapter of CREW Network. I have two brothers still in the US, Yves and Pierre.
Q: What was cool when you were growing up but isn’t cool now?
A: Sunbathing with baby oil to enhance that tan – no sunblock.
Q: What’s your favorite place to travel to?
A: Montreal, Canada.
Q: What do you hope to get out of your membership with CARW?
A: Educational programs and networking events. I have been a member for many years and feel that CARW offers great value as an advocate for the advancement of the industry and its practitioners.
