Q: What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A: Seeing someone’s vision for a space become a reality. I think it’s fascinating how every space, building, park, etc. was once just an idea, but through entrepreneurial spirit was able to come to life.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you have received?
A: Don’t f#*@ up, but if you do, do it at 100 miles per hour.
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: The Man in the Arena speech by Theodore Roosevelt, “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Whitehall, WI. It’s midway between Eau Claire and La Crosse, in Wisconsin’s coulee region.
Q: What was cool when you were growing up but isn’t cool now?
A: DuckTales, but it’s making a revival in my house thanks to my little girls.
Q: What’s your favorite place to travel to?
A: Anywhere authentic. When on business travel, I love walking or driving a city to get a feel for the community.
Q: What do you hope to get out of your membership with CARW?
A: I hope to expand my network, not entirely for business reasons. Life is richer the more quality people you have in it.
