I’m Michael (“Mike”) J. Coakley, born and raised in Franklin, Wisconsin. I graduated from Franklin High School in 2013 and went on to attend University of Wisconsin–Madison, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in
Marketing and International Business, with a minor-equivalent in German, graduating in December 2017.
I received my Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University in May 2021, passed the Wisconsin bar that summer, and began practicing at a boutique law firm in Pewaukee. There, I focused on estate planning, probate, trust administrations, and adult guardianships. In Fall 2023, I was recruited to Turke & Steil LLP in Madison, where I continued much of the same work while also handling landlord-tenant and debt-collection matters in small claims court.
In Summer 2025, I officially returned to CH Coakley, where I now serve as Vice President with a focus on supporting the company’s long-term strategic direction and continued growth.
How did you get started in Commercial Real Estate?
My exposure to commercial real estate started early. I grew up working in warehouses owned by CH Coakley, and through conversations with my father, I gained an appreciation for how commercial and industrial properties factor into business operations and long-term planning.
What do you enjoy about working in CRE?
I enjoy the practical, problem-solving nature of commercial real estate and the way it supports broader business goals, particularly in operational and industrial settings.
What is your favorite quote or personal mantra?
“If you want to change the world, start with your own backyard.”
Where’s your favorite place to travel—or a destination still on your bucket list?
I would love to travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil & Buenos Aires, Argentina.
What do you hope to gain through your CARW membership?
I’d like to establish strong professional relationships within the commercial real estate community, expand my perspective on the industry, and engage with CARW in a way that creates lasting value for both its members and my organization.
