Q: What do you enjoy the most about commercial real estate?
A: The reach our Industry has, and its impact on the world. Real Estate touches almost everything we do. If done right, it has the ability to help businesses grow, communities thrive and make lives better. Very few industries have that type of potential and responsibility.
Q: What is the best piece of advice you have received?
A: I’m lucky in that I have received a lot of great advice over the years. The one piece that sticks with me the most is from a presentation given by Byron Wien of the Blackstone Group.
“Younger people are naturally insecure and tend to overplay their accomplishments. Most people don’t become comfortable with who they are until they’re in their 40’s. By that time they can underplay their accomplishments and become a nicer, more likable person. Try and get to that point as soon as possible.”
Q: What is your favorite quote?
A: “If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” – Albert Einstein
Q: Where did you grow up?
A: Muskego. The city next door to where the historic Powerball ticket was won.
Q: What was cool when you were growing up but isn’t cool now?
A: A good mixtape! ITunes, Spotify, and YouTube have placed millions of songs at our fingertips. I think that makes us forget how cool it was to have your 12 favorite songs altogether on one tape or CD. Nowadays you’d be hard-pressed to find a way of even playing a mixtape.
Q: What’s your favorite place to travel to?
A: The US Mint has a program called America the Beautiful Quarters. Each year they release 5 Quarters featuring National Parks in different states. Every summer we pick a National Park and take our kids on a “quarter quest.” Our goal is to collect them all!
