Congratulations to our 2017-18 Ken Braden Memorial Scholarship recipient, Samuel Spoerl! Sam is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in finance and economics, and earning a certificate in real estate. Sam’s hometown is Milwaukee, where he currently works as a Sales Operations Intern for Direct Supply. After graduation, Sam plans to continue his career there. Spoerl was recognized at the 2018 CARW CRE Awards on October 24, 2018, and has since reached out to us expressing his gratitude for the honor. Below, we have shared his words of appreciation.
“Thank you for raising the funds for the Ken Braden Memorial Scholarship, and for honoring me as the recipient for 2018-2019.
The 2018-2019 academic year will be my senior year at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. My undergraduate degree will be in business, with a major in finance. I will also have a minor in economics, and a certificate in real estate.
Since joining UWM, I have worked continuously to save and pay my tuition. Already, the Braden scholarship has reduced the burden of paying out-of-pocket costs, and will reduce the size of student loan debt payable after college. Upon graduation, I will instead save towards buying assets—including real estate—and reducing previously accrued student loan debt.
Last summer I began interning at Direct Supply, Inc., and at the end of October accepted a full-time position as an analyst to begin after graduation. Further schooling is not yet on the horizon. My vision is to own a business, or string of businesses, and real estate assets. The Braden scholarship has positioned me closer to realizing that vision.
Again, thank you.”
Sincerely,
Sam Spoerl
