Congratulations to our 2017-18 Charles Ball Scholarship recipient, Kassi Polega! Kassi is a third-year accounting and real estate student at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She currently works in the commercial real estate industry as a licensed salesperson with Founders 3 Real Estate Services. Her future plans include obtaining a Wisconsin broker’s license, pursuing a graduate degree and also becoming a licensed CPA. Polega was recognized at the 2018 CARW CRE Awards on October 24, 2018, and has since reached out to us expressing her gratitude for the honor. Below, we have shared her words of appreciation.
“After taking into consideration the many opportunities I have been given through the Charles Ball SIOR Scholarship, words can do but little to express the sincere gratitude that I feel towards everyone at both SIOR and CARW.
For one, this scholarship was a huge blessing for my family and I. Thanks to the generosity of those who contributed to this fund, I was able to cover all of my tuition expenses for the entire year. If it were not for this scholarship, I would have had to take out yet another student loan, which would only add to my financial burden in the future.
As I am now approaching my final year at UWM, reducing that financial burden has become increasingly important to me. This is in no small part due to the fact that I am an Accounting major; I am forever thinking about the economic impact of my decisions. Given that, I am doing everything within my abilities to graduate from the Lubar School in Business in 3 years with not only a major, but also a certificate in Real Estate.
I plan to use my degrees to continue pursing a career in Commercial Real Estate here in Milwaukee. More specifically, those plans include furthering my career as a broker at Founders 3 Retail Services.
In conclusion, I would like to again say thank you to every person who was involved in this process, from the recipient selection committee to the individuals who financed this scholarship. I would not be where I am today without your kindness.”
Warm Regards,
Kassi Polega
