On Tuesday, July 25, CARW welcomed the NAR Commercial Policy Advisor, Erin Stackley, to Milwaukee. She joined CARW board members for a full day of meetings with commercial members and stakeholders on national issues ranging from the Historic Tax Credit, 1031 Exchange, and EB-5. She then presented a lunch and learn session where she covered tax reform issues and financing policy that impacts our industry. We even discussed drone legislation and net neutrality as well as flood insurance and Waters of the US. Members were very engaged in the discussion and gave Erin excellent real-world information to take back to Washington D.C. She emphasized that hearing from the members and connecting them to the decision makers in D.C. was the most effective way to influence change. This was the first time that the NAR representative had been in Milwaukee to talk with members – but it will not be the last! CARW representatives attend several national meetings each year and interface with NAR leadership though national committee work. We continue to bring members updates through the weekly CARW connector and the policy committee activity. If you are interested in learning more about becoming involved with NAR and its national platform, please contact Tracy at the Association Office: tracy@carw.com We were also pleased to hear from Tom Larson, the Senior Vice President of Government Affairs for the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association. He gave a brief overview of the status of the Wisconsin State Budget and several other key issues impacting commercial real estate. To see more great pictures of the event, click here!
