As I took on this role as Chairman of CARW, I never could have anticipated the year ahead. I anticipated a year filled with the launch of our CARW Foundation, significant advocacy efforts and a detailed deep dive into our data platform…but a worldwide pandemic, didn’t see that coming. While we aren’t yet through these trying times, it has reinforced a few things:
I believe that being a leader isn’t about a title or a position. It isn’t about a single event that suddenly makes you one. Instead it’s about the underlying fundamental of doing what is right and seeking consistent progress in that pursuit each day – becoming better professionals, better colleagues, better parents, better people…that collective progress is what makes us leaders. This trying time has impressed the value of this approach upon me evermore. When Tracy and I spoke in early March, we didn’t have all the facts but we needed to start making decisions – and we have done that day in and day out. You have my ongoing commitment to advancing the best interests of the organization and each of you in all we do on behalf of CARW, each day.
So, with a spirit of optimism, I look forward to ongoing communication with each of you in the months ahead and some fantastic events in Q3 2020.
