The 2020 general election is coming up on November 3. Across the nation, people are voting by mail and in person. Early voting has started in Wisconsin and is expected to draw record numbers of voters. If you are looking for information about voting location or what is on your ballot, visit https://myvote.wi.gov/en-us/
We strive to keep you informed and engaged as we can and brought you, through help from members of our board and policy committee, an exclusive and timely series – “What’s at Stake” which featured six programs from local and national speakers on policy and political issues that impact you. They took your questions, saw your faces and took the time to engage with you. Real estate is a vital industry and our members’ perspectives are important to policy makers and elected officials. If you’d like to discuss further, any of the people or issues that were brought up, please contact the association office at tracy@carw.com.
To recap, our speakers included the following. Note that most sessions were not recorded because of the sensitive nature of some of the topics and timeliness of the issues.
Joe Murray, Policy Director for the WRA – discussing State candidates and top issues for the 2020 election
Erin Stackley, Senior Representative, Commercial Legislative Policy for the National Association of REALTORS® – discussing federal policy impacting commercial REALTORS
Senator Ron Johnson – discussing federal issues, coronavirus stimulus, issues that matter to voters
Congresswoman Gwen Moore – discussing how federal policy impacts Milwaukee, issues that matter to voters
Charles Franklin – Marquette University Law School – discussing the national polls just four weeks before the election
State Senator Alberta Darling with Tom Larson, VP for Political and Legal Affairs at WRA – discussing State issues, the Senate’s role in the covid recovery efforts and issues that matter to voters
Please reach out if you have ideas for other programming that may be valuable to you or to members. We would appreciate any feedback you have on the series – timing – topics – format. And remember to VOTE!
