Historic Tax Credit Update
May 8, 2015 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
The current Historic Tax Credit program has been extremely successful in meeting its objectives for the commercial real estate community. It is a useful tool for economic development – creating jobs, growing local tax bases, restoring historically significant buildings, and generating state and local tax revenues. Ironically, because the program has been more successful than projected, significant changes are being proposed in the Governor’s budget now before the Legislature to hinder that success. The CRE industry has identified the Historic Tax Credit as one of its top legislative priorities for 2015, and has joined with an active coalition to research and advocate for changes to the proposed budget.
Join CARW, NAIOP-WI, BOMA and the Milwaukee Preservation Alliance for this timely program to hear about the work of this coalition including:
– History of the HTC program
– Economic impact case
– Implications of the proposed legislation
– Progress on current advocacy efforts
