CORE* Development Case Competition – Hosted by Marquette University in partnership with CARW
* Creation Of Real Estate (CORE) open to Wisconsin – based schools
Event Date:
- Saturday, February 28
- Full-day event (approx. 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Morning: Preliminary rounds
- Afternoon: Final round (public viewing)
- Late afternoon: Awards & networking reception
Location:
- Event will be hosted on campus at Marquette
- Room 150 for breakfast, remarks, and reception
- Study rooms reserved for preliminary round presentations
- Wisconsin Club reserved for finals & professional networking
Site Location for Case Study: Will be released following registration.
Competition Format:
- Development-focused case competition
- Up to 4 breakout rooms
- Up to 4 teams per room
- Teams of up to 4 students
- One finalist per room advances to the final round
- Judges for prelims and finals will be different groups
- Judges will not be informed of school affiliations (anonymous by school)
Submission Requirements:
- Presentation Deck
- 20 minute presentation time
- 10 minutes of judge questions
- Executive Summary – (Judges supplied with handout)
- Financial summary
- Community implications
- Visuals of property
- Excel Submission
- Financial analysis
Schools & Teams: Targeting Wisconsin schools, including (but not limited to): Marquette, UW–Madison, UW–Milwaukee, UW–Whitewater, UW–La Crosse, MSOE, UW–River Falls, UW-Stout (and possibly MATC)
- Expectation: up to 2 teams per school (final cap based on total registrations)
- Goal is broad participation rather than heavy pre-screening in year one
Case Timeline:
- February 12 – Team registration deadline (schools confirm teams & rosters)
- February 13 – Case + full rules distributed
- February 27 – Case submissions due
- February 28 – In-person competition at Marquette
Prize: Prize purse will be allocated to top 3 teams (2500/1500/500)
