Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales visited with CARW members on December 10 at the TWO-FIFTY offices. The discussion was focused on how members of the business and real estate community can work with law enforcement for overall community security. He spoke about his role as Chief in a time when Milwaukee and Wisconsin is experiencing significant demographic shifts and socioeconomic challenges. The Chief discussed the extent to which MPD embraces technology, ERM (enterprise risk management) systems and collaboration with adjacent communities as well as those throughout the State. Much time and resources are spent, unfortunately, in a very small portion of the City because a great deal of crime is isolated. He has found success in having meaningful presences in these areas and connecting to the residents and businesses to get them talking and watching out for one another. In the Central Business District, he empowers the Police Captains to be present for businesses and visitors. When asked about the DNC in Milwaukee during 2020, he explained that the event has significant national resources that will be used to bring in officers and security from far and wide. He was confident that Milwaukee will shine during this time.
