We are grateful to our CARW Annual Sponsors for their support of the industry and organization. Thank you to First American Title and Brandon Schulta for the continued involvement!
Q) How do you describe the Wisconsin Commercial Real Estate Community?
A) If I had to use only one word to describe it, I would say “inclusive”. There really is a feeling that when a deal gets done, the CRE community is happy for all involved. Every CRE deal makes our communities better/stronger. The camaraderie I witness from my position within the CRE community is truly exciting to be a part of. So many opportunities for mentorships for young professionals, so many opportunities for JV/partnerships within the development community. It is so exciting!
Q) What has been your favorite CARW event and why?
A) While thinking about it, I’ve realized my preference for my favorite CARW event has evolved (probably due to age…). But my favorite event today is the Annual Market Update. It’s great hearing from the “boots on the ground” professionals as to what is happening across SE Wisconsin. Most importantly, I like to think that each presenter has to make predictions for the following year as to what they think will happen in their respective industry. Then, the following years presenters review their predictions and compare it to actual performance in the market. It kind of holds their feet to the fire in a room of sometimes almost 400 people.
Q) What is a current commercial real estate trend or project that you’re excited about?
A) 2 projects actually:
- This may be a bit controversial, but the project I’m excited about is to get Foxconn lands in Mt. Pleasant up and running. By attending industry events hosted by CARW and meeting with industry professionals, I’ve learned this development is one of very few sites ready and available for a Mega Project. It was unfortunate to lose the Intel project to a competing state, but I am optimistic another Mega Project will come to this site and kick off many great years of growth, productivity, and much needed increment in this area for years to come!
- Iron District by Bear Development. This land was slowly acquired by Marquette over many years. And to have a great developer come in like Bear Development and put together a massive mixed-use project that includes housing, retail, sports, and entertainment, I think Marquette, the City of Milwaukee, and the State of Wisconsin will reap huge benefits for this transformative project.
