Congratulations to CARW Scholarship recipient Elena Aviles! Elena is from Milwaukee and she is going to be a senior at UW-Milwaukee where she’s majoring in Accounting.
Q) Why are you interested in commercial real estate?
A) Commercial real estate has been growing and it’s hard not to notice all the new buildings being built and wonder what happens on the business side. I find the decisions being made to create and maintain commercial real estate to be interesting and a process I would like to understand more.
Q) What are your goals after college?
A) After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I plan to start graduate school immediately. While in graduate school, I hope to attempt and pass the CPA in order to continue a career in public accounting.
Q) What has been your favorite class and why?
A) I recently took a course in Accounting Information Systems and I found it to be one of the most interesting courses because it focused on the responsibilities that everyone in a business holds to make the business function. It was a very analytical class that made us think beyond the numbers.
Q) What is the best piece of advice you’ve received?
A) The best piece of advice I’ve received is that slowing down to gain perspective while working on a goal is okay, but never stop completely.
