Last week, representatives from CARW traveled to Washington, D.C. for the REALTORS® Legislative Meetings, where they joined
thousands of real estate professionals from across the country to advocate on behalf of the industry.
CARW Chair Jenna Maguire, Public Policy Chair Jeff Stone, and CARW President Tracy Johnson participated in a series of high-level meetings with members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation and the offices of Senators Baldwin and Johnson. The conversations focused on key issues impacting commercial real estate and small businesses, including:

Commercial development opportunities and infrastructure investment in Wisconsin

Advocating for independent contractor status, which underpins the real estate industry’s business model

Expanding access to association health plans for REALTORS® and their families

Protecting the 20% pass-through business income deduction, critical for small business owners

Addressing challenges related to non-attainment zone status, which can impact regional growth
The group also heard from NAR Chief Economist Lawrence Yun, who provided a timely economic forecast and shared insights on national market conditions and what they mean for commercial practitioners.
As always, Washington, D.C. served as a powerful reminder of the importance of advocacy. By showing up and sharing our stories, we help shape the policies that impact our industry and the communities we serve.
