On Tuesday, Cypress Equities’ Kirk Williams addressed CARW Members on the future of Bayshore Mall. Cypress Equities is the new owner of the mall and surrounding properties. Kirk gave us an inside look at how he and his team will revitalize the space. Cypress Equities is working with local retail and office teams in Dan Rosenfeld and Andrew Prater of Mid-America Real Estate Group and Dan Wroblewski and Matt Fahey of Colliers. The master plan includes turning the mall inside, moving tenants from inside the mall to the outside and activating key spaces including the internal rotunda and central gathering area for year-round use and include artificial turf. There is emphasis on introducing art throughout the development. Several of the pads will be sold to other developers for hotels, restaurants, medical-office and more. Additional office space will also be made available. They also plan to introduce apartments along Lydell Avenue, adjacent to the existing parking structure. Kirk relayed that they will update facades, landscaping and wayfinding signage to improve the overall visitor experience. This will become a true suburban entertainment destination. Williams calls it ‘addition through subtraction’.
