As you have read over the past several weeks, the City of Waukesha has submitted a formal request to divert water from Lake Michigan to the City of Waukesha. This application has been approved by State regulators at the Wisconsin DNR and now must be reviewed and approved by the governors of all other Great Lakes states and provinces in order for it to move forward.
CARW’s public affairs committee and board of directors is pleased to formally support the City of Waukesha’s application and urges the support of the Great Lakes Governors Association. We believe that it is in the best interests of the entire South East Wisconsin Region for the City of Waukesha to have access to a clean, safe, and sustainable water supply. In addition to submitting the attached letter, CARW joins a number of organizations working together to move the request forward. We also plan to work with national affiliated REALTOR® partners to engage leaders throughout the Great Lakes.
CARW believes that our organization’s support for this issue will help advance the discussion regionally and demonstrate our continued commitment to regional economic issues. More information about the application history, process and next steps may be found here: http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/wateruse/WaukeshaDiversionApp.html
We will continue to keep you updated on progress and CARW’s involvement in the issue.
The letter is attached HERE.
