The panel was moderated by Alyssa Geisler (Irgens). The session was the fourth of nine classroom discussions with leaders from various sectors across the commercial real estate spectrum. Here are some takeaways:
- More demand for weatherproofing (domes & turf)
- More regulatory restrictions for permits and approvals from the government cause standstills in processes
- The process now requires more details to get permits and approvals
- Strict timelines
- Due diligence should be done as early as possible in any project (Phase 1)
- Sellers should have some version of due diligence done whenever land is involved
- Phase 1 due diligence can save a client money on the backend to catch problems and resolve them early
- Always get a second opinion
- Question everything (especially when you do not know the answer)
