The Waukesha Water Diversion proposal was unanimously approved on June 21st by the leadership of the Great Lakes – St. Lawrence River Basin. The momentous decision will allow the City of Waukesha to use water from Lake Michigan – the city will become the first U.S. community located entirely outside the Great Lakes drainage basin to receive a diversion of lake water under the Great Lakes Compact. The original application was put forward in 2008. Read CARW’s letter of support here.
