SUMMARY:September Lunch & Learn: M7 - How do We Sell the Region?
DESCRIPTION:Hear from Jim Paetsch\, VP of Corporate Retention and Attraction for Milwaukee 7 (M7).  He will discuss the work of M7 including organizational strategy and how they market the region.  He’ll also talk about the recent economic development “wins” including the Foxconn deal. In addition\, learn about the organization\, how deals are identified and how they get done. \nMore on Jim Paetsch: \nJim is Vice President of the Milwaukee 7\, the regional economic development entity for southeastern Wisconsin\, and oversees the organization’s corporate attraction\, expansion and retention activities. Jim works directly with companies looking to create jobs and invest capital in the region. \nMore on M7: \nThe Milwaukee 7\, launched in 2005\, was formed to create a regional\, cooperative economic development platform for the seven counties of southeastern Wisconsin: Kenosha\, Milwaukee\, Ozaukee\, Racine\, Walworth\, Washington and Waukesha. Its mission is to attract\, retain and grow diverse businesses and talent. \nTogether\, these seven counties have a wealth of corporate headquarters\, a pool of highly skilled workers and world-class amenities. Competing as a region broadens our range of choices and opportunities and gives us the competitive edge that we need\, today\, and into the future.  Milwaukee 7 markets the region to companies looking to expand operations or relocate – from across the state line to around the globe. M7 provides the tools and the project management to guide companies from their first visit through the opening of their new plant or office and have successfully closed deals and attracted foreign direct investment from companies in China\, India\, Great Britain\, Spain\, Italy and Germany. \nRegister Here

SUMMARY:June Lunch & Learn: The Harbor District Initiative
DESCRIPTION:The Harbor District has been at the center of our region’s prosperity for hundreds of years – first as a rice marsh with plentiful fish and game\, then as an economic hub that served industries throughout the state. Now\, much of its land sits abandoned or in disrepair\, its waterways are polluted – but its potential is immense. \nThe Harbor District Initiative brings together local\, state\, and federal government efforts\, private sector interests\, and community enthusiasm to achieve a world-class revitalization of this area for the benefit of the City and the Region. Their goal is to reinforce existing businesses and neighborhoods and set a new standard for how waterfronts “work” environmentally\, economically\, and socially. \nA new non-profit\, Harbor District\, Inc. (HDI)\, leads the charge to reimagine – and then rebuild – this area. Beginning in fall of 2015\, HDI\, the City of Milwaukee and other partners conducted a planning process to craft a vision for the area\, begin to build momentum and marshal resources to implement the vision. Community input and participation will play a large role in the planning process. \nOn June 26th\, we will be joined by Lilith Fowler\, Executive Director of Harbor District and Ivan Gamboa\, Senior Vice President at Tri City National Bank to speak more on the Harbor District Initiative. \nWhen:\nJune 26th | 11:45 am – 1:15 pm \nWhere:\nCARW Training Room | 250 E Wisconsin Ave \nPrice:\nMember | $15\nNon-Member | $30 \nClick here to register! \n

SUMMARY:May Lunch & Learn: If You Revitalize It\, They Will Come – Central City Housing Initiatives as Catalyst for Commercial Real Estate Opportunities
DESCRIPTION:This panel presentation will explore the potential domino effect arising out of the revitalization of Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods. Increased homeownership and the resulting boost in a stable population that is invested in their neighborhoods should lead to an increased demand for commercial real estate development. Understanding the work that organizations like ACTS Housing are undertaking in conjunction with the City of Milwaukee and where those efforts are focused will help attendees predict future opportunities in neighborhoods that may otherwise be overlooked. Additionally\, commercial brokers working with investors outside of Wisconsin will take away talking points to address misconceptions about the central city. \nModerator:\nChris Schreiber\, Shareholder\, von Briesen & Roper\, s.c. \nSpeakers:\nMichael Gosman\, Executive Director\, ACTS Housing\nMartha Brown\, Deputy Commissioner\, Department of City Development\, City of Milwaukee \nWhen:\nMay 22nd | 11:45 AM- 1:15 PM \nWhere:\nvon Briesen & Roper SC | 411 E Wisconsin Ave #1000\, Milwaukee WI 53202 \nPrice:\nMember | $15\nNon-Member | $30 \n
