We will delve into the evolving topic of office conversions\, featuring a presentation by Steven Paynter\, an architect from the design firm Gensler\, who developed a nationally recognized algorithm to quickly assess the suitability of office buildings for conversion into housing. \nAs cities across North America grapple with a shortage of housing and an excess of vacant office space\, the idea of converting office buildings into residences has gained significant attention. With over $1 trillion in commercial real estate debt coming due by 2025\, cities are actively seeking ways to leverage these underutilized office spaces to generate crucial tax revenue\, support the local economy\, and maintain community vitality. \nCommunities in and around Milwaukee and Madison have completed or are contemplating several notable projects. Steven has worked with cities including Philadelphia\, Chicago\, New York\, Calgary\, and San Francisco – and will share his perspective on best practices from those who are successfully navigating revitalization efforts. \nIn addition to Steven’s presentation on transforming office spaces into multi-family residences and redeveloped properties\, we’ll hear from several local professionals enhancing the region’s commercial real estate market through conversion. \nGain insights into the future of redevelopment and adaptive reuse\, network with industry professionals\, and explore innovative solutions driving these transformations. \nAdditionally\, a panel of local experts including S.R.
