DESCRIPTION:Join CARW for small group tours of the Soldiers’ Home presented by JP Cullen on Wednesday\, February 24th.  Tours with groups of ten will be offered at 9\, 10 and 11. \nThe Milwaukee VA Soldiers Home Historic District on the grounds of the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center is one of Milwaukee’s most important historic assets. As part of an Enhanced Use Lease (EUL) agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs\, The Alexander Company and City of Milwaukee Housing Authority are leading a team that has been chosen to restore and rehabilitate six of the District’s vacant buildings. \nUnder the proposal\, the buildings – including Old Main (Building 2)\, the most prominent and recognizable building on the campus\, the Administration Building (Building 1)\, the Catholic Chaplain’s Quarters (Building 14) and three duplexes (Buildings 18\, 19 and 62) – will be renovated into a total of 101 housing units with supportive services for veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. \nRegister for the tour HERE \nFree to CARW members \nNon-Members $30
