We are pleased that the final step in financing the development of the Downtown Milwaukee Arena has been completed with the passage of the City funding plan. On September 22nd, the Milwaukee Common Council voted 12-3 to approve the $47 million city funding package, which included the construction of a parking garage and the creation of a TIF district.
As we have informed you, CARW Leadership met individually with City Aldermen and testified in front of the Common Council on the matter. Together we were able to convey the importance of the vote in furthering the development of our City, bringing thousands of jobs to our community, and ensuring economic vitality for a portion of Milwaukee that was a ‘missing piece’ at the gateway to our City. You can read more about the details of the final package here.
This momentous decision marks a turning point for the City of Milwaukee. It shows that a process which could well have taken several years, could be fast-tracked when like-minded leaders pull together to make conscientious decisions for the betterment of a community. We are proud to have been part of the process and continue to support the project.
We thank you for your support and participation in the process. Your input is invaluable and we look forward to working with you on what’s next!
